The air here is thick with silence, broken only by the wet, heavy breathing of the beast above. Below, the Black Egg rests in a pool of stagnant water, its surface reflecting nothing but an abyssal void. A faint, golden pulse beats within its dark heart, a rhythm that feels less like life and more like a warning. The guardian stirs, its eyes glowing with a feverish madness, guarding a secret that burns brighter than any star.

The history of the Black Egg is inextricably linked to the fall of Hallownest's creator. When the Pale King realized the Vessels were not enough to stop the Radiance, he sought a more permanent solution. He carved out a cavern deep beneath the world and placed the deity within this massive egg, intending to bury it forever. However, the Light is persistent. Over time, the Radiance's influence seeped through the shell, corrupting the mind of the guardian assigned to watch over it. This corruption eventually spread outward, fueling the Infection that ravaged the kingdom above. The egg became a focal point for the plague. In the end, the seal was broken not by force from outside, but by the sheer will of the Light pushing back against its prison. When the final vessel arrived to confront the source, they shattered the Black Egg, releasing the Radiance into the open air and forcing a confrontation that would determine the fate of all life in Hallownest.
